About BUKOVEL...
Bukovel Ski resort is situated at the foot of the Bukovel mountain in the village of Polanytsia, Yaremche region, 900 meters high above the sea level, 30 km from the town of Yaremche, 100 km from Ivano Frankivsk and 250 km from Lviv.
Picturesque scenery, crystal clear air, a rich historical heritage, unique cultural traditions and a way of life of the native highlanders always attracts tourist to the Carpathians - and beautiful they are in winter and in summer.
The hotel-resort was completed only a few years ago and rests at the foot of the Bukovel Mt. The hotel has 25 cottages, 98 suites, 40 three room suites - all are equipped with full bathrooms, shower, satellite TV, phone, mini bar, balcony. The Hotel also has a sauna, pool and a massage room next to a well-equipped fitness room. There are two restaurants on location and four kolybas throughout the property - which service skiers with warm snacks, lunch, or just a warm wine with local hutsul cuisine.
Optional local sightseeing:
Kolomyia - Second only to Lviv as W. Ukraine's cultural center, it's city center is full of lovely 19th c. Viennese architecture, together with many Soviet-era memorials. The downtown was renovated five years ago just before Pres. Leonid Kuchma was supposed to attend the International Hutsul Festival. You must visit the gorgeous Pysanka Museum. The fancifully egg-shaped building, which stands 12 meters tall and houses a collection of some 6,000 of the hand-painted Easter eggs for which Ukraine is known - the world's largest such collection.
The Museum of Hutsul Folk art, right behind the Pysanka Museum, displays intricately handmade Hutsul clothing, recreations of Hutsul dwellings, and lots of regional Carpathian ceramics and woodcarvings.
Yaremche - home of the Ukrainian Robin Hood, Dovbosh, with lovely waterfalls and River Prut running through the whole village, rows of kiosks filled with woodcarving and kylyms ..and all that next to a very ethnic restaurant, Hutsulshchyna..
Slavsk and Vorokhta Ski Resorts are nearby and arrangements can be made at additional cost to visit them for alternative skiing.
